2025 Toyota 4Runner Leaked Hours Before Official Reveal
We are only a couple of hours away from the official release of the 2025 4Runner and Forbes Magazine may have already spoiled the surprise. In an article we can only assume was posted accidentally, Forbes revealed what seem to be official photos, specs, and trims of the new 2025 4Runner. We went through the since deleted Forbes article to get the breakdown of everything coming to the all new 2025 4Runner.
Design
The 2025 4Runner boasts an all new design from the ground up. The all new 2025 4Runner sits on Toyota's new TNGA-F platform and features redesigned bodywork and interior. Toyota has gone towards a more boxy and rugged look with its off road SUV's and we can see that design language has carried over to the new 4Runner.
The interior features the optional 14" touch screen that is carried over from the 2024 Tacoma as well as the transfer case dial which is a departure from the manual transfer case of the 5th generation model. The new 4Runner will also have optional 2nd and 3rd row seating to compete with other SUV's in its segment.
Drivetrain
There was a lot of speculation whether the new 4Runner would carry over the same drivetrain as the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and we can now confirm that is the case. As stated in the Forbes article the 2025 4Runner will carry over the same 2.4L turbo 4 cylinder engine as well as the hybrid i-Force Max as the Toyota Tacoma paired to the same 8 speed automatic transmission. The standard i-Force engine will produce 278hp while the i-Force Max will produce 326hp. It remains to be seen if the new 4Runner will also carry over the same manual option that is available in the 2024 Tacoma.
Trailhunter
In the photos leaked we can see that the new 4Runner will come in at least three trims. Trailhunter, TRD Pro, and Limited. Toyota had teased the Trailhunter as a 2025 4Runner trim yesterday and the news today shows that the TRD Pro and Limited trims will return from the previous generation 4Runner. We can also assume that trims like the SR5, TRD Sport, and TRD Off Road will return but there was no mention of them in Forbes article.
New Colors
The photos in the Forbes article also show the new 2025 4Runner will be available in a variety of new colors. Tan, green, and blue colors can be seen on the Trailhunter, TRD Pro, and Limited models shown in these pictures. We're excited to see what other colors will be available on the new 4Runner and if these colors will also carry over to other Toyota models in the future.
These are just some of the things we noticed while reading through the Forbes article before it was taken down this morning. Based on the source of the article and the time of its release we are confident that this is the official 2025 4Runner and we're excited to see what other features will be available on the all new 2025 4Runner when it is revealed tonight at 10:15 ET tonight!
