These are well made and easy to install. The stock clips that go into the vehicle slots kept going into the frame near the side airbag curtain when pushing there printed tabs in to lock the bars in place . Note ! It is a tight fit and may require a sturdy tool and a soft mallet to push them all the way in so they don’t feel loose. Helpful info for those that are interested. Have a sturdy tool handy, bend the stock metal tabs out before you clipped them in and lastly, it will be helpful to have a magnetic reach tool to fish out the tabs if they go into the lining.

Solid Product; Installation Trickier Than Expected

I ordered the set of four. Bottom line - they are very solid, I like them, and I would order again. A few tips for others based on my experience: The installation is not as easy as the video makes it seem. It may be due to the age of my truck (2015), but the first thing that happened is I had difficulty getting the silver attachment clips out, and several had slight bends. These minor distortions became significant . . . . When installing, it’s very important to press in until you get the “click”, but you have to press in until they click and then ensure you do not put any outward pressure on the handle, and ensure the edge of the clips in the handle have expanded back to the full extent. If you do it right, the handle will be extremely solid with no wiggles at all. If you don’t, you may find the clip passes through the handle hole, or it’s impossible to insert the plug. You can’t force the plug or you’ll end up pushing / bending the clip, you’ll have to remove and start over, and if the clip is bent you’re done (you’ll never unbend it to the right spec). On my first iteration I got two handles installed perfect, and two other (four attachment clips) were unusable from the start or I had bent them. Here’s the rub: you can’t to the dealer and get just these clips, you have to buy a complete handle assembly which includes two of the clips. Cost between $25 and $50 depending on source, and then you get to pull the clips out and throw the handle and everything else away. So new clips cost from $12 - 25 each. I tried to go the cheap way and found supposedly compatible parts on an aftermarket handle. The clips looked good and installed easy. Too easy . . . There was always play in the new handle. So then I went back and ordered Toyota OEM handles and pulled the clips out, and they worked perfectly, but I ended up paying almost $100 just for new clips to get to my full four handle install to the specs / quality I wanted. 4Runner Lifestyle: want to everyone a favor? Source just these clips and either provide them or at least a few spares, or make them available as an add on for a few bucks each. I’m sure if you can source just the clips they would not be expensive. For those that find themselves as I did, the Toyota OEM part number for a handle w/ compatible clips (for a 5th Gen) is 74610-02071-B0. My local dealer clearly had a markup; I was able to order online from a “genuine Toyota guaranteed” parts dealer for cheaper and they shipped and arrived quick. Again, the handles themselves are great and I would buy again, just be aware of the risks during install, be prepared to buy some new clips, and take your time.

Sturdy grab handles. Upgrade over OEM

These are nice. Took about 1/2 hour to install four, Well built. Sturdy enough to rock the car back and forth after installation.Only downside, they get a bit hot in CA heat. AZ heat be another level, They need to make a pair of hooks for the back cargo area to round out the set.
