4Runner Lifestyle Aluminum "Oh Sh*t" Grab Handles For 4Runner (2010-2024)

Install is not fun, but it’s worth it.

The install is made to seem as if it’s a walk in the park, which it wasn’t for me. However once done and set in they look and function wonderfully.

Aluminum OhSh*t Handles

Bought 1 set of handles to give them a try. I've never been a fan of the OEM retracting driver/passenger handles. The handles are nice. My concern, since they are aluminum, would be sharp edges and uncomfortable when gripping hard to pull yourself up and in. No issues at all. They feel good in the hand and when using force. As far as the install...relatively easy. Only issues are the "clips" used to secure the handles. My recommendation is 4Runner Lifestyle include new replacement clips in place of reusing the factory clips. I was having issues with the factory clips not locking in place and the handles would pull out with little force. After several attempts in bending the clips just right, the grips finally locked securely in place. I do like the looks, having the handles always available (not retracted) and they do feel good in the hand. These are a good replacement for the OEMs.

These are a huge pain to install.

These are well made and easy to install. The stock clips that go into the vehicle slots kept going into the frame near the side airbag curtain when pushing there printed tabs in to lock the bars in place . Note ! It is a tight fit and may require a sturdy tool and a soft mallet to push them all the way in so they don’t feel loose. Helpful info for those that are interested. Have a sturdy tool handy, bend the stock metal tabs out before you clipped them in and lastly, it will be helpful to have a magnetic reach tool to fish out the tabs if they go into the lining.
