First off, we just installed these steps on our 2014 Limited and so far so good....once we figured out how to install them. The very first thing we noticed when we got the steps was that they were not going to work with the Limited OEM lower body cladding (piece below the doors with that chrome trim) as the cladding is significantly taller than the brackets for the steps. The second thing we noticed was that the front mounting holes on the truck were not spaced the same as the middle and rear holes; the front holes are spaced at 4" apart whereas the other are at 1.5". After several correspondences with N-Fab & 4Runner Lifestyle and hours of researching, we figured out how to make it work without cutting anything.
1. When mounting, use only the lower front mounting hole on the truck. This means you will use 5 bolts per side instead of 6.
2. The lower body cladding can be replaced with the lower rocker panel guard that is used on the SR5/TRD body models (this is the black plastic trim underneath the door of the SR5/TRD). We learned this by taking the panel guard off our 2019 TRD Off-Road and putting it on the Limited.
3. When replacing the lower cladding from the Limited with the rocker panel guard from the TRD, it does cost more money and some time to source the parts. Aside from the panel guard we needed the front caps that go at the front of the panel and behind the mud flaps, new front mud flaps, and some retainer clips/plugs that go on the underside of the panel guard.
Long story short, if you have a Limited and want these steps, and you don't want to cut the lower cladding to make it work, you can spend the time and money to do it.
